Read Deleted SMS Messages from any Nokia Symbian Mobile

By | March 19, 2009

image So, you accidentally deleted the message that you enjoyed the most or was a message from special someone and now you are feeling sorry, well time to be alittle techie and get back your message, we cannot restore it back into your sms inbox but yes you can atleast see it and copy it down somewhere.

Requirements: Fexplorer Symbian Device file manager software which you can download from here, After downloading it transfer it to your mobile and install it.

Now follow these steps,

  • Open Fexplorer in your mobile.
  • Select drive C: or D: depending on the memory in which the Sms messages have been saved.
  • For example you selected c:, Then open “system” folder.
  • Then in “system” folder open “mail” folder.
  • Then in this folder you will see different folders (eg 0010001_s) and certain files (eg 00100000). These files are the actual messages. Browse through every folder and open all files till you get the sms you are looking for.
  • For opening the files don’t choose options>file>open as it will show format not supported rather choose options>file>hex/text viewer. By selecting the “Hex/ text viewer” you’ll be able to open and read the deleted SMS message.

Hope this helped you and saved you from the unnecessary trouble.

@jasdeep I told you , It works only for s60 phones like n6600,3230 and others for newer mobiles this technique does not work and I’ll inform you If i find some other solution.

I doubt n ot, it basically works for the series 60 OS7 or the older mobiles, like 3230,6600,6630 etc.

Really hope you can help me.

My ex partner left and is now going back on promises made for financial support for me & our baby. My solicitor needs proof – he made these promises by text.

As was trying to delete an angry response (before I sent it) to a nasty message from him today, I did so in Conversation mode & accidentally deleted the whole thread. Am gutted as need those texts to prove his responsibility & not loose our house. If can’t get them back don’t know what I’ll do.

Checked with Nokia but N8 it seems doesn’t save messages to SIM but to phone memory, so SIM reader no good.

Downloaded FExplorer above but not supported for N8.

Please do you know of anyway to get into phone memory (c drive) and attempt to retrieve these deleted messages?

Without them have no evidence for court.

Really hope you can help am desperate.

plz tell me how to recover deleted sms from nokia 3110c is this model a java?

  16. Julius

Dear all I have had some issues on recovering messages as the thread is saying but this method does not work at all. First because the messages you are getting through that are most probably the ones you have in the system. So those you see are the ones that are not deleted. Second in order to get a deleted file you have to stop immediately using the phone turn it off and take out the memory card. Insert it in a computer with a card reader and scan the card with a good data recovery software. Once you find the deleted files which as shown in the main post have no extension then you can recover them and then you are opening a deleted file.

I managed to find a mail folder and files in it. But all the messages were the ones that actually are not deleted. Is it possible that the memory is somehow limited, or is it just a coincidence, and there are no deleted messages?
